These pieces have been painted over the course of several years. Designs are freehand, with inspiration coming from flowers and designs seen online. Majority of pieces can be seen in person at Crock A Doodle in Oakville.
I started working at Crock A Doodle in October of 2010. My painting skills have developed over the years, gaining knowledge of how to play with paint colours and techniques based on how the pieces will fire. I measure success of the samples by seeing reactions from fellow customers. Numerous of my samples have been recreated from walk-in customers.
In addition to painting pottery, I have the skill of glazing & loading the kiln – a difficult task given that this is the last step in the process. There is room for pieces to break if the kiln is loaded unsuccessfully, so the task requires a confident person.
