As this is my third Sarah Dessen book I have noticed a recurring theme throughout her writing. Strong relation to Dreamland, except not to the same extent.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"reviewTextContainer1268531844\"><span id=\"freeTextreview1268531844\">The book centres around Ruby whose mother has abandoned her. The book unfolds with Ruby learning the meaning of family after her older sister and husband take her in, which involves a change of school, money bracket, and sense of self.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Collected words from reading:<br \/>\n&#8220;My point is&#8230;not everything&#8217;s perfect, especially at the beginning. And it&#8217;s all right to have a little bit of regret every once in a while. It&#8217;s when you feel it all the time and can&#8217;t do anything about it&#8230;that&#8217;s when you get into trouble&#8221; pg. 169-70<br \/>\n&#8220;but risk is just part of relationships. Sometimes they work, sometimes the don&#8217;t.&#8221; pg. 307<br \/>\n&#8220;Total commitment&#8230;you know, the idea of discovering something that, for all intents and purposes, goes against your abilities, and yet still deciding to do it anyway. That takes guts, you know?&#8221; pg. 310<br \/>\n&#8220;But now, I was beginning to wonder if you didn&#8217;t always have to choose between turning away for good or rushing in deeper.
